EU Digital Identity Wallet
Start here
This guide presents an overview of Entrust's EU Digital Identity (EUDI) Wallet solution, which will be available soon for integration through Workflow Studio.
Entrust's Present Digital Identity Wallet task in Workflow Studio enables onboarding flows that accept government-issued digital identity credentials from European Digital Identity Wallets – with the national French EUDI Wallet France Identité and German EUDI Wallet d-you supported today. Further EU member state wallets will follow.
Please note: The Present Digital Identity Wallet task is currently available as a preview for evaluation purposes and therefore only supports France Identité and d-you. You can test the flow using your own France Identité credentials, or d-you sandbox credentials.
Support for additional countries will be added in the future.
Full production availability will be announced separately and will depend on a range of external milestones, including:
- the certification of the respective wallet as an EUDI Wallet and its inclusion in the European Commission's list of certified wallets
- the opening of the national registers of wallet-relying parties and the issuance of access certificates
- the publication of the trusted lists needed to validate credentials
Customers will also need to be registered as a wallet-relying party in the EU Member state where they are established before they launch in production, which Entrust will facilitate once available and where possible.
What is a Digital Identity Wallet?
A Digital Identity Wallet is a mobile application that holds government-issued identity credentials in a secure, interoperable digital format.
Under the eIDAS 2.0 regulation, EU member states are required to offer EUDI Wallet-compatible digital identities to their citizens by November 2026. These credentials can then be presented to approved verifiers to prove identity without presenting a physical document.
Entrust's integration is delivered through EUDIW Unfold, a collaborative initiative and platform initiated by France Identité (ANTS/French Ministry of the Interior) to support the practical implementation and cross-border interoperability of the EUDI Wallet. Entrust is a listed official verifier within the Unfold ecosystem.
By adding Digital Identity Wallet verification to an onboarding flow, organizations can:
- confirm a user's legal identity against government-held data
- offer a low-friction onboarding experience for users who hold a supported digital identity credential
- position their onboarding for the emerging EUDI Wallet landscape ahead of the November 2027 regulatory deadline
Solution overview
During onboarding, the user is prompted to open their Digital Identity Wallet app on their mobile device, where they authenticate and consent to sharing their verified identity attributes. These attributes are returned to the Entrust platform and made available within your Studio workflow for downstream decisions.
Currently, attributes available for verification include:
| Attribute | Description |
|---|---|
| Given name | As held by the issuing government |
| Last name | As held by the issuing government |
| Date of birth | ISO 8601 format |
| Issuing country | ISO 3 letter country code |
The above list is not exhaustive – additional attributes as contained in the PID will also be available for verification soon.
Adding a document and biometric fallback
As the timelines for when each EU member state releases its EUDI Wallet are varied, and full digital identity wallet adoption will be phased, it is important to offer your end users the fallback to alternative methods of identity verification such as document and biometric verification.
